I have been working with OPALEen and cannot export any of the SCORM package types. I get
OPTION LOADING FAILED
I have tried this on an XP windows machine and in linux. Both give the same error.

I saw a post dated some time ago. I was wondering if there is a fix?

(PS the french version worked fine, is it possible to import my work form the english version to the french version and create the scorm that way?)

Sorry, my french is very weak, so I am left to writing my posts in english...

Hi!

Don't worry about posting in English, many people on these lists will understand you.
First off, which versions on Opale are you using ?
The DTD of the English and French versions of any SCENARI model are identical so you can use either on the same content without any problems.

It would be great to know where you are using Opale and how you heard of it !

Regards,

Samuel.

Thank you for the prompt reply!

I am using
OpaleSupEn 3.1.007 alpha (2009062403)

I have tried
Opale 3.3.0.07 final (2012012610)

and I have a copy of
SCENARIchain 3.7.0.14 final (2010042010)

I am teaching mathematics and computer science at Cleveland Heights HS where we have adopted Moodle for our online component. I am very interested in using SCORM tools to create my online lessons to support a blended classroom. I have chosen SCORM for the ability to create reusable and cross-platform (i.e. Blackboard, Sakai) modules. I am particularly interested in tools that are also cross platform (Windows, Linux).

I have tried eXe, reLOAD, and other SCORM authoring tools. OPALEen seems to be richer and I find the incorporation of Latex to be exceedingly valuable. I think that document chains is a novel idea. The ability to create multiple output formats from a single template is very clever. I am sure that it will prove most useful.

I did my dissertation on elearning and the diffusion of (learning) technology. I am always on the lookout for how elearning is being delivered and what is new and novel in the field. It was in my researching these topics on the Internet that I came across SCENARI and thought I would try it myself. If things go well, I will encourage my colleagues to give OPALEen a try as they develop their own lessons.

Cheers!
Al

Hi,

You should upgrade your SCENARIchain to 3.7.200 which is the latest stable version, the English versions of the SCENARI suite are available here:
http://scenari-platform.org/projects/scenari/files.en-US/
For SCENARIchain:
http://scenari-platform.org/projects/scenari/files.en-US/SCENARIchain/win/3.7.2.00/SCENARIchain_3.7.2.00_en-US.exe
http://scenari-platform.org/projects/scenari/files.en-US/SCENARIchain/lin/3.7.2.00/SCENARIchain_3.7.2.00_lin_en-US.tgz

Or if you use a Debian based Linux distribution, use our deb repository:
http://scenari-platform.org/trac/scenari/wiki/InstallLinux#InstallerlesprogrammesSCENARIsurUbuntuetDebian

You should not use OpaleSupEn 3.1.007 any more, it is much too old and Opale has come a long way since then.
Please use the English version of Opale 3.3.0.07:
http://scenari-platform.org/projects/opale/files-en/3.3.007/wsppack/opale-3.3.007-en.wsppack

We also package Opale as a stand-alone application, these are available here:
http://scenari-platform.org/projects/opale/files-en/3.3.007/
The stand-alone version is designed to be used by authors who will not be using any other document model (such as OptimOffice etc) thus simplifying the installation process.
SCENARIchain is as you must have understood, an empty shell into which document models need to be installed (wsppacks) before becoming usable.
The only benefit of SCENARIchain over the stand-alone version of Opale is that you can install different document models for different types of content,

Note that when upgrading from Opale 3.1 to 3.3 your content will need to be migrated, this should be automatic and once done your content will no longer be compatible with Opale 3.1.
Always make a backup copy of your content before migrating from one version of a document model to another.

SCENARI and Opale in particular is now used extensively in French universities and beginning to be used in secondary education as well, I is very encouraging to see it being tested in North America.

Don't hesitate if you have further questions.

Samuel.
