|

bonjour again,
I tried to use webradio,
but what I (and other users) don't like, is that it needs ~2 minutes to load on page..
Even from local computer (using the example from discovery). Where's the rub?
I also played around with SSS - it needs preloading and calculating timeintervals (and this feature can be optionally disabled)
Looking forward to Your suggestions.
Mersi

SSS and WebRadio contents are processed by a special "XML parsing & layout
engine" in an flash / action script file. Although it's a robust and
powerfull way of handling the published content, it has to do a lot of
preloading, that can take a couple of minutes. An other option is like you
said, to load section by section but it can introduce 5-20 second pauses
during the presentation so we don't consider this as an acceptable
solution either.
We are considering to use other methods, but it require a technological
switch, and as usual, even if we are aware of the problem it's going to
require some of your patience until a more efficient solution is
confirmed.
However, from our experience, some 5 minutes webradio or 15 slide
SlideShow usually load in about 1 minute on some average hardware, and
most of our users manage to keep the audience busy with a few words while
it's loading.
