CPAG (AXA)
Transforming a traditional training course into a vocational e-learning course |
The CPAG (Cursus de Professionnalisation des Agents Généraux) curriculum, for insurance workers, aims at making a transition from a traditional course (given in a training centre) to an e-learning course incorporating work experience.
The challenge
- The original course consists of 18 months of face-to-face training.
- The aim of the new course is to switch 50% of the course to remote training.
- There is a constraint: very brief design phase (6 months): a need for fast large-scale production.
The assets
-
A knowledge base of the fundamentals of insurance, produced within the ESPASS (UTC / Association pour l'Enseignement de l'Assurance / AXA) project that has been in use and maintained since 2000.
-
Continuity between the two projects thanks to a process of document engineering:
- Opale modules
- "fragmented"
- can be used in other scenarios in another document model.
The approach
Re-engineering the initial scheme:
- requirements analysis;
- formalizing a new work-based training course;
- identifying what is needed in digital teaching material (volume, pedagogical model etc.)
Tying up to a document engineering process:
- re-using the existing knowledge base;
- design of the Folomi free publishing chain;
- adapting the Opale chain for Axa's needs.
FOLOMI: a pedagogical chain for creating interactive modules, putting the student into various situations, accompanied by a virtual coach.
Opale: a pedagogical chain for creating academic type online modules.
Results
- 11 Opale modules
- 10 Folomi modules
- Length of cursus reduced by 6 months

The initiative for the project came from AXA who, through AEA was looking for a method to enable the writing of and the creation of media for 21 modules. They asked ICS for help in carrying out this objective. The KELIS company intervened for additional development and ODIGI created the graphic interface.
